Diamond Circle
This tour takes in landscapes such as uninhabited, interior-highland deserts where Mother Nature rules.
We head to Borgarfjörður – with green valleys and farmlands and our first stop is at Deildartunguhver, the hotspring with the strongest water flow in all of Europe. Onwards to the gorgeous waterfalls, Hraunfossar and Barnafoss, and to Húsafell where one of the largest birch forest in West Iceland can be seen, before heading south Kaldidalur, a barren mountain pass.
At the edge of Iceland‘s second largest glacier, Langjökull, the Ice Explorer awaits for a drive towards the top of the ice cap, where you are surrounded by seemingly endless fields of ice and snow. After having been on top of Iceland´s second largest glacier we drive down the mountain track of Kaldidalur to reach Þingvellir National Park. Most of Iceland´s historic events have taken place there as well as it is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.
From there we head to Geysir geothermal field where hot springs are in abundance, geysers explode and pools of mud bubble. We also make a stop by Gullfoss, the queen of Icelandic waterfalls before returning to Reykjavík.
